Pool Openings / Closings

Opening

How can I prevent my pool from having green algae in the spring?

The best way to prevent your pool from turning green is to open your pool in early spring such as April or early May and open your pool when the average day-time temperature is 15C or higher.

It is best to have your pool opening completed by a trained Regional Pool Service professional as it’s a vital part to the operational success of your swimming pool. We can check if there are any issues that require attention.

Our professional pool opening service includes:

  • Removal of winter cover, washing the cover if required.
  • Removal of winterizing plugs
  • Reassembly and activation of filtration equipment
  • Reassembly of ladders, diving boards, lights, etc.
  • Addition of chlorine to kill algae
